how it works.

  1. 01

    Paste or upload

Paste text or upload a text-based PDF, Word file, or .txt draft.

  2. 02

    Review the matches

Each match shows the overlapping passage and the source details the scan returns, with a link when one is available.

  3. 03

    Quote it or cite it

Open the source, then quote properly, add the citation, or rewrite the passage in your own words.

Most plagiarism in student work is accidental: a paraphrase that stayed too close to the original, or a citation that fell out during editing. A scan before submission is how you catch that while it is still a five-minute fix.

Lervan's scan checks your text against a large source database and reports what matches, where, and how much. Read the source, make the call, then fix the passage.

what to check yourself

  • This is not your school's checker. Different services scan different databases, so a clean result here does not guarantee a clean result everywhere.
  • Matches are leads, not verdicts. Read the source before you decide whether to quote, cite, or rewrite.
  • A Free account includes one scan of up to 2,000 words each month. An eligible seven-day trial has its own 6,000-word plagiarism allowance; the monthly plan includes 15,000 plagiarism words a month, the annual plan 10,000 a month, and the weekly plan 5,000 a week.
  • Private by default: your text is processed to return the result and is never saved to your account.

fair questions.

is this the same as what my university uses?

No. Universities typically use their own systems with their own databases, including submitted-paper archives that outside tools cannot see. Use this scan to catch missing citations and too-close paraphrases before you submit.

what counts as accidental plagiarism?

The common cases: paraphrasing that keeps the original's structure and phrasing, quoting without quotation marks, and citing a source in the bibliography but not in the text. All three show up clearly in a scan.

what file types can I scan?

Pasted text, plus text-based PDF, Word (.docx), and .txt files. Scanned image PDFs are not supported.

how much does it cost?
